It’s your chance to see what New York has to offer America in terms of talent.
And actually, you’ll see what America *will* see because it will be for the TV show, America’s Got Talent.
They are doing a taping of the show here in New York next month and if you click over soon enough, you can score some free tickets to a taping.
If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see acts that are nuttin’ but strings. . .
Take a look at what I mean:
It’s your chance to be in the audience as the best amateur performers from around the country compete in front of Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and Howie Mandel as judges. (For those of you who aren’t familiar with this show yet, it’s produced by Simon Cowell…)
Here are the tapings for America’s Got Talent in NYC that are still available:
We had a chance to get away from a spring break weekend break this past week down at the Mount Laurel CoCoKeys Water Resort. If you’re a parent of a toddler through elementary school aged child, you should really know about CoCo Keys.
It’s located right off the NJ Turnpike at the Mt Laurel Marriott (attached on the same property). Most times you can book a “Water Package” stay at the Marriott for $200 or so that includes one night and water park passes for the entire family for *both* the day of arrival and the day of departure — two full days of water park fun. The park is open from 10am to 10pm most days, so you’ll have plenty of water time.
Here’s what the seating area inside the water park area looks like:
But wait, there’s more! On the second floor over part of the facility . . . Read more…
Woke up this morning, yearning for the caffeine fix as usual.
And found this deal that makes we want to scratch my head. . .
Why is Starbucks discounting, setting up freebie promotions? Boy, have (economic) times changed.
Gone are the days when Starbucks can rely upon just straight-up coffee. How can you tell? Have you noticed their new line of *INSTANT COFFEE*? How about the Instant Oatmeal now on their menu? When I ordered it on my last visit, they literally open a packet of instant oatmeal just like the single-serve Quaker oatmeal packets we have at home — pour in hot water, stir it up and give it to you with premium packaged toppings that completely goes against any eco-friendly message they are trying to send out.
Well, if you haven’t been over to Hanover Lanes lately, they’ve renovated the place — including a new arcade area in the back (pretty sizable) with new games and a brand new bar/eating area — with PizzaHut Express with decent prices. (Seemed like 1/2 the people bowling got the $3 = soda + breadsticks combo by looking at the tables in all the lanes)
Here’s a great video that should inspire you all the way to Hanover Lanes on Route 10 in East Hanover:
To make it even more enticing and enjoyable, here’s a free printable coupon for two free games when you pay for two games:

QUESTION: When was the last time you went bowling?
It took awhile, but they’ve finally finished the renovations for the Malaysian-Thai cuisine hangout.
And what a transformation. They’ve upped the vibe a notch – closed up the open kitchen, neat dramatic wallpapered wall with indirect lighting, brought in spacious 6-person upholstered booths, neat-o illuminated orange glass dividers for the long bench seating. The upper deck now houses 3 big round tables that seat 10 people each.
The hostess said they didn’t sacrifice any seating for the new configuration.
The menu stays the same. The popular standard fare is still yummy — Roti Cani, Pad Thai, Seasme Chicken, Buddhist Veggie Delight…
Penang is next to Don Jose, in the Home Depot shopping center.

Here’s a great deal if you live or work in the NYC area.
Once you register for this deal site, you’ll have access to 50% off discount coupons to New York City restaurants and shops next time you plan to head into the City.
Almost 1/3 MILLION people have subscribed for this deal site already and the sheer scale of the list brings in great “real” deals every day.
Or how about 50% off a dozen stuffed cannolisfor $9.00. Yup. It’s a small splurge, but a big bargain.
This LivingSocial Daily Deal site is much like the members-only RueLaLa sample sale site, but for restaurants and other personal service treats around New York City. And these deals are limited, but also they are available for 1 day at a time.
And it ain’t no “trial size” cup either like the size of those tiny rinse cups at the dentist’s office (I have no idea why THAT image came to mind, sorry folks!). But you get the idea. . .

If you have a lot of JUNK lying around the house, I bet a big portion of it is actually electronics and computer related equipment.
Do some spring cleaning and bring it to the parking lot of the Senior & Community Center (204 Hillside Av, Livingston) from 9am-2pm, Saturday, March 27 and be rid of it for good!
The township will shred your paperwork on site.
And if you have any of the following digital leftovers hanging around, they’ll take that too and have it properly recycled on your behalf for free. You just have to drop it off from 9a-2p on that Saturday.
computers and computer components
monitors
printers
fax machines
scanners
speakers
keyboards
main frames
telecom equipment
TVs
VCRs
stereos
radios
DVD players
toasters

BTW, you can also recycle your used up batteries at time of the year at the Livingston Library – they have a drop off bin by the front doors.
We’re a fan of Panang Malaysian which is next door, and every time we’ve gone, Don Jose has a line waiting for seats in their foyer. So we ended up here for my birthday dinner.
Toasty homemade chips and salsa to start! Steak and enchiladas! Kids meals $5 each from a selection of about 5 or 6 different options! Most entrees were $11-12. ”Combos” were $12-14. And other meat dishes were were mostly $15 (steak, chicken, fajitas, etc). Serving portions were average size. The meal took a tad longer than we expected to come out and the rice was pretty dry. The meals at Don Jose was mostly above average, satisfying, but not knock your socks off fantastico if you were to judge the food solely by itself.
The reason why you’d go to Don Jose’s restaurant is for the dining experience. Don Jose’s staff was friendly. . . decor definitely let you forget you were in a strip mall. . . the live roving 2-man guitar/strings musicians made the night festive. For your birthday they bring out a big ol’ sombrero and everyone in the house joins in to clap and sing. It was a Kodak Moment.
But some small things to note: We were asked to move our party to another table 10 minutes into sitting down for our meal – we were told it would help them out to accommodate a larger group by combing our table with others for the larger group. The waiter promised us “we’ll give you an extra special dessert complimentary on us” if we could help them out. We moved, wasn’t a big deal to us at the time, but they never followed through on the promised “comp”ing of desserts. We were even chanrged for the birthday flan + ice cream that was eagerly sent with the song and clapping during our meal. Is it a deal breaker? No? But it’s one of those small annoying things that just leaves a bad taste in your mouth as you leave the restaurant.
But other than that little annoying instance, we’d go back at some point soon.
Oh yeah, eat a lot of popcorn (because unlimited refills are included in the P.O.P. ticket option!
