New Auto Parts the Old Fashioned Way

It’s kind of amazing that there isn’t a “big box” auto parts store around town. No PepBoys, No AutoZone, etc. I guess there’s a Strauss Auto on Route 10 in East Hanover, but they aren’t that big — more of a gas station + oil-change place.

In Livingston, it’s good old Herman’s Auto Parts on Mt. Pleasant Avenue a little further down from the Post Office. This is the auto parts store you know from the “good old days” where it’s a small store that tends to stock a LOT of little parts. Small enough that you’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time – no mass-market hourly workers in same-color uniform polo t-shirts behind the counter. In fact, it just might be Herman that helps you out. But they are big enough that they take credit cards….none of that “cash or check only” business.

My brake light bulb is out, so that’s where I’m headed first thing tomorrow morning…
