Free Wi-Fi in Livingston,…

Posted by admin on Oct 23, 2007 in Uncategorized

There’s a couple spots in town where you can get completely free wireless Internet access on the go.

The first one is at Fresh City in Livingston Town Center, the second one is at Dunkin Donuts in North Field Center on Northfield Avenue and the third one is the brand new Livingston Library which is completely Wi-Fi enabled.

Do you know of any other places? Let us know and post a comment below…

Hot Halloween

Posted by admin on Oct 21, 2007 in Uncategorized

It’s been a warm October and this week is supposed to stay 75-80 degrees in New Jersey.

That means there’s tons of outdoors stuff that we can still do with the family before Winter arrives for real.

What are you doing these days outdoors to stay active and happy?

What’s your favorite park? Playground? Tennis court? or any outside activity around town?

Destination: Atlanta. . .

Posted by admin on Oct 19, 2007 in New Jersey, madison

Today, I’m meeting a friend at Atlanta Bread Company. The cafe/coffee house is in Madison, NJ actually.

Kind of like a Panera Bread, they serve coffee, desserts, and sandwiches, etc with a LOT of space for hanging out and meeting up with friends. I don’t know if there’s much of a differentiator between the two local bakery/coffee houses. Perhaps I’ll find out today when I go.

I just looked-up the local “ABC” store and it looks like they offer free WiFi Internet connections to surf while you sip your coffee.

Downtown Madison, New Jersey has a ton of little shops and restaurants and Atlanta Bread Company is just one of them to explore.

I’m off to Dublin…just not in Ireland

Posted by admin on Oct 17, 2007 in morristown, nj
That’s the Dublin Pub at 4 Pine Street Morristown, New Jersey (telephone 973-538-1999).
We have a meeting tonight in the back room and I was told that I should try out the good old fish and chips — one of my favorite dishes that I can’t resist whenever seen on a menu. The restuarant is on the corner, right next to the theater in Morristown and across the street from the Library.
There are a bunch of interesting local restuarants in Morristown and this is my first trip to on in the cozy town.
I hope that it’s worth going to Dublin for!

Service Magic to the Rescue

We had a small repair job done this past spring and it was time to follow-up on another repair that we didn’t want to do at the same time. We found our original contractor through Servicemagic.com which is one of best resources for home owners.

Service Magic provides 3-4 qualified contractors that are pre-screened for licensing and liability insurance. And they also have a customer rating system in place so you can go look-up past comments pro and con about each contractor. The system really works to help you find a decent contractor for home improvement and home repair jobs. Estimates are free.

But I don’t have the contact info for the original contractor, so I just headed back to ServiceMagic to put in another request. And immediately 3 contractors were matched up with me from our area.

For anyone that’s going to use servicemagic.com, there are some tips on using ServiceMagic.com that you really should read before you go and put in a request. READ THE TIPS. . .

Incredible Hulk Sighting In Madison, NJ

Posted by admin on Oct 15, 2007 in hulk movie, madison, nj

It looks like there’s 2 days of motion picture filming in the town of Madison, NJ by Drew University for the Incredible Hulk movie.
For the Hulk fans out there in the Garden State, the movie, slated to be released in 2008 is about The Hulk being captured and it’s escape:

After hiding out in the northern region of Mongolia, The Hulk is captured by the Russian Government. Before escaping, the Russian Government collects enough DNA from the Hulk to create the Abomination. They send the Abomination to retrieve the Hulk thus preventing him from going to General Ross about the Russians’ illegal experiments. From IMDB

The filming involves a scene with a helicoptor circling around over the campus, so keep looking up!

Summer is officially over :-(

Posted by admin on Oct 15, 2007 in Uncategorized

We had a really pleasant heat spell recently at the end of September/early October — can’t believe we saw 85+ degrees in October!?!?!!?!

But now the weather looks like it’s returning back to normal with the chilly early mornings and nights.

This of course means that it’s time to close the pool for the season. There are plenty of pool guys around town, but I happened to stumble upon King of Clean LLC out of Bernardsville a couple of years ago and have been using them every year since. Jeff is friendly and flexible for scheduling and was willing to “teach me the ropes” of pool maintenance and ownership along the way, so that I can do most of the stuff during the summer — very easy once you know the routine.

The other advantage to using someone from outside this immediate local area is that you’re not charged “local pricing” from contractors! One quote to open my pool originally was north of $800! King of Clean saved me a couple of hundred bucks in addition to the pleasant service I’ve enjoyed over the years.

It’s important to find good contractors that you can develop relationships with over time. In my case, the pool isn’t a headache for me as a home owner because of this type of service. If you’re not fully happy with any regular contractor for the pool or any other type of work on your home, perhaps it’s time to try someone else?

Beyond Harmon…

Posted by admin on Oct 13, 2007 in Uncategorized
We were at the Harmon Discount supply store on Morris Turnpike in Short Hills recently and found out that they started taking competitive coupons from Bed, Bath and Beyond!

So now on top of their rock bottom prices, you can get an additional 20% off just by bringing a Bed, Bath and Beyond coupon. Got to love competition in retailing!

Mama ain’t there all the time.

Posted by admin on Oct 13, 2007 in Uncategorized
Mama Tucci’s Restaurant on the second floor of the Livingston Town center opened this past year which is an upscale Italian restaurant serving the Livingston neighbourhood.

They originally opened on Saturdays for lunch but I found out recently that they stop serving lunch and now open on Saturday’s from 5:00 p.m.

I hope it’s not because the food or service is lacking since I’ve yet to go and want to visit soon (it would have been today for Saturday lunch, but they are closed!).
